Lately, what with the new baby, Fionna's been a little more...under foot.

...and she's needed a little extra attention and carrying around.

Abby is starting to settle in.

And Fionna is now figuring out ways to help out as well.

The Lexicon

Things are going well at home here. Have wanted to call, but since we're going to bed fairly early these nights and are running around a bunch during the days these days, we just figured a status report would do for the next week or so.

Abby is feeding well now, which is reassuring. At her 1 weekish doc's appt, she was already up to 8 lbs, which seems like preposterous growth. Sheryl's milk is already in nicely, so again...a load off our minds. We'll probably start giving some pumped bottles in a week or two, and that will significantly improve the nights. Right now, she's still a Saying-Hello-Every-Three-Hours
-At-Night kind of girl. We suspect that she's a bit more vocal than Fionna ever was and certainly has a more piercing cry; she's got just the right timbre to really vibrate your eardrum in an alarming fashion if she's right up there on your shoulder having a burping session.

Fionna had a nice bit of honeymoon period, where she always wanted Abby on her lap, was always trying to find a soother for her, etc. She is now busy working her way out of what I expected, which is more of a grief reaction encompassing, "I think no one pays enough attention to me right now...". Not in a terrible way, mind you, but it has been noticeable. As a result, we've been trying to give a little extra to her during the days...meaning that we kind of run about a lot, and hence, no phone calls.

Of interest, Fionna's language has finally taken off in leaps and bounds. She can make crude approximations of whatever you say and more importantly, understands the sign-language/spoken-request to Say The Word for something rather than resorting to the point and "Hah?"
