The play-by-play

Effective 1852h on Tues Feb 11th, the name of our blog has changed to "James, Sheryl, Fionna and ABIGAIL on the lake"

Sheryl and I were discussing things. We don't think either of us have EVER seen a delivery that fast. Sheryl had had a few strong contractions throughout the day...maybe 3-4. At about 1730, we decided to go into the hospital anyways, as our OB had wanted a monitoring test on us twice weekly. We went in and the readings looked fine. We guesstimated that things would roll along for another few hours, anyways. So Sheryl sent me home to get Fionna settled into bed at Derrick and Amanda's place (for her first sleepover with her "best" friend Emily) and Kevin decided to tag along to get something to eat prior to coming back to the hospital and digging in for the labour and delivery.

His parting words to Sheryl were, "You've not going to go and have this baby while I'm gone, are you?"

20 minutes later, while I was getting Fionna's clothes and food set to go over to Yates', I get the call from Sheryl that, "...it looks like things are going faster than we predicted. You might want to...not waste too much time."

10 minutes after than, I get the call that, "...so you may as well not hurry in. We're done."

WHAT??????

I think Kevin's more cheesed than anyone about this turn of events; he really wanted to be in on the delivery. Sheryl's actually quite pleased; less pain and less work = good. I don't mind either way, to be honest (evil glares from other childbearing women aside), as all that I care about is that Sheryl and Abby are feeling great. Amanda feels gypped, but she's a sadist (and a personal trainer) and didn't want things to be that easy for Sheryl.

We're back home now and Sheryl's eating a butter tart and wanting to play games, so I think I'll sign off for now. Check out our photos. I will post the winner to the Guess The Baby contest in a few days.
